David Fischer, Partner

Dave is a founding partner of Gold Hill, and has provided financing to early and growth stage technology and life science companies for over 20 years. Prior to Gold Hill, Dave was involved with market development, deal sourcing and credit underwriting for 12 years at Silicon Valley Bank and for 5 years at Bank of New England's Technology Lending Division. Dave's primary markets include the Boston area, New York, Texas and Colorado. Dave's past and current investments include Akamai (AKAM), Wellfleet (merged with SynOptics), A123 Systems, Imprivata and Copan Systems.

Dave holds a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

     
 

Tim Waterson, Partner

Tim is a founding partner of Gold Hill with over 25 years of experience financing venture-backed technology companies. Prior to Gold Hill, Tim worked in a variety of sales and management positions at Silicon Valley Bank. Before Silicon Valley Bank, Tim worked at Citicorp and Bank of America. Tim's portfolio activities at Gold Hill are concentrated within Silicon Valley and include 3 Pardata, Cavium Networks, Centrality Communications, Wily Technology and Port Authority.

Tim is a graduate of U.C.L.A. with a B.A. in Economics and earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Santa Clara University.

   

 

 

Sean Lynden, Partner

Sean is a founding partner of Gold Hill, and has helped finance technology and life science companies since 1992. Sean's career covers almost all types of lending including venture and mezzanine lending, trade finance and working capital loans and other financing vehicles including private placements, M&A and public offerings. Sean has also held a variety of operational roles in sales management and corporate development. Sean's past and current investments include Demandtec (DMAN), Hansen Medical (HNSN), Infinera (INFN), Imperva, Range Fuels and P.A. Semi.

Sean holds a BA in International Relations from Stanford University.

   

 

 

Frank Tower, Partner

Frank is a founding partner of Gold Hill, and has been working with and financing information technology and life science companies along the East Coast for over 15 years. Prior to Gold Hill, Frank spent 12 years with Silicon Valley Bank in senior business development, portfolio management and credit underwriting roles in both the New England and mid-Atlantic markets. He also served as a partner with the seed-stage venture capital firm Blue Rock Capital. Frank began his career as controller of Replica Corporation, a venture-backed interactive game company. His past and current investments include Visual Networks (VNWK), WebMethods (WEBM), Approva, Kayak.com, Pixtronix, Tacoda (acquired by AOL/Time Warner) and Vertica Systems.

Frank earned a BS in Finance and Investments from Babson College.

   

INVESTMENT TEAM

 

Rob Helm, Managing Director

Rob joined Gold Hill as a founding member in 2003. Rob has been providing financing solutions for technology and life science companies since 2000. In his career, Rob has evaluated over $2 billion in potential loan commitments and made loans to over 70 companies. At Gold Hill, Rob works with a portfolio of technology and life science companies in Northern California and manages all of the firm's activities in Southern California. Before joining Gold Hill, Rob was an associate with Silicon Valley Bank. Rob's current portfolio includes Rayspan Corporation, Revision3, GreenDot Networks and T3C.

Rob holds a BS in Finance from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

     
 

Tim McDonough, Principal

Tim joined Gold Hill as a fund analyst in September 2003, and focuses on West Coast investments. Tim actively participates in the structuring of new investments, performing a range of responsibilities that include managing client relationships and monitoring a large, active portfolio. Previously, Tim worked at Mohr, Davidow Ventures in the finance department, where he assisted the finance group with capital calls, distributions, fund accounting, financial reporting and other financing needs. Since joining Gold Hill, Tim has reviewed over $890 million of potential investments, having worked closely with Infinera, Hansen Medical and Demandtec, among others.

Tim holds a BS in Finance and Economics from Santa Clara University.

   

 

 

 

 

 

Glenn Marasigan, Associate

Glenn joined Gold Hill Capital in July 2006, where he provides analytical and portfolio management support for West and East Coast investment opportunities at various stages within the technology and life science industries. Previously, Glenn worked at Project Hired, a non-profit organization assisting individuals with disabilities to gain competitive employment. At Project Hired, Glenn worked in the finance and accounting department. Prior to that, Glenn was with Smith Barney Citigroup, where he provided portfolio management support to their investment team.

Glenn graduated with honors with a BS in Business Finance from Santa Clara University and is a candidate of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

 

 

Joseph Schnablegger, Analyst

Joseph joined Gold Hill Capital in 2007 as an analyst, where he provides analytical and portfolio management support, and helps conduct due diligence for the firm's investment opportunities. Joseph focuses on debt and equity solutions for companies at various stages of growth in both the technology and life science industries. Joseph comes to Gold Hill from Menlo College where he graduated with distinction and was captain of the football team.

Joseph graduated from Menlo College with a BS in Business Management. He also received a Certificate of Advanced Accounting Proficiency from Santa Clara University.

 

   

OPERATIONS TEAM

 

Renee Anders, VP of Finance

Renee serves as Gold Hill's VP of finance. Previously, Renee was with Ernst & Young's Northern California Assurance and Advisory Services practice. At E&Y, she supported various high-technology clients, ranging in size from development stage to over $12 billion in revenue. Before joining Ernst & Young, Renee worked in the accounting and finance department of Mohr, Davidow Ventures.

Renee graduated with honors with a BS in Finance from San Jose State University.

     
 

Kathryn Marshall, Accounting Manager

Kathryn joined Gold Hill in 2005. She currently manages the daily operations of the finance team, including the quarterly financial statement process, cash forecasting for capital calls and distributions, and valuations of our portfolio company investments. Previously, Kathryn worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers' San Jose Assurance and Advisory Services practice. She serviced a wide range of technology and venture capital clients. While at PwC, Kathryn also assisted in implementing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance practices within client operations through internal controls assessment.

Kathryn graduated with honors with a BS in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University and holds a Certified Public Accountant license (CPA).

 

 

 

Kelsey Nakano, Staff Accountant

Kelsey joined Gold Hill after working with Frank, Rimmerman + Co.'s Assurance and Advisory Services practice. While at Frank, Rimmerman, she focused on a wide range of privately owned technology clients. Before joining Frank, Rimmerman, Kelsey worked as an intern in the finance department of SVB Capital.

Kelsey earned her BS in Accounting from San Jose State University.

 

 

 

Azra Moiyadi, Staff Accountant

Azra joined Gold Hill as a staff accountant after completing her undergraduate studies at UCLA. While earning her bachelor's degree, she worked part-time at the entertainment law firm of Skrzyniarz& Mallean in Los Angeles. She also served as a research assistant in an interdisciplinary study regarding family life at UCLA and held leadership positions in the Indian Student Union, organizing charity banquets and multi-ethnic conferences to promote cultural awareness.

Azra graduated in 2007 from UCLA with dual majors in Economics and Psychology.

 

 

 

Laura Buckingham, Office Manager

Laura joined Gold Hill in 2005. As Gold Hill's office manager, Laura handles the firm's day-to-day operations including human resources, website maintenance, vendor relationships and accounts payable. She is also responsible for recording new loans and tracking and maintaining Gold Hill's prospect and investment pipeline. Previously, Laura was with Lighthouse Capital Partners as an office administrator. Before joining Lighthouse, she worked as an administrative assistant in Silicon Valley Bank's venture capital group. Laura is also a freelance journalist who has written for Netflix and the San Jose Mercury News.

Laura earned her BS in Journalism from San Jose State University.
